Battlefield 3 set to overshadow Modern Warfare 3

Over the past few years, we have seen the success of battlefield, in all its glory, be constantly overshadowed by the superiority of call of duty modern warfare (cod mw).  Despite being truly exceptional games, modern warfare has fairly dwarfed it.  However this is all about to change as the rumors circulating seem to be good news for any fans loyal to battlefield.  While speculators believe that modern warfare 3 will be the same old game, which has been constantly good, there will be nothing gamechanging about the next in line, which will be as similar to mw2 in multiplayer terms as mw2 was to mw1.  It is also speculated that mw3 will be seeing no update in graphics engine from mw2, meaning that there is fear that mw3 will have no real difference from mw2 apart from a new story line.

Battlefield 3 however seems to be set to become the no.1 fps when it comes out later this year.  With a gamechanging graphics engine and a new Frostbite engine confirmed, this game looks like it will change the rules of the fps, forcing call of duty to rethink their gameplan; something that they haven’t needed to do in over 3 years.

Whatever happens, onvideogames are equally excited for both of these titles, and will be reviewing them the second we can get our hands on a copy!

What superiority does COD have over BF? I would love to know. All MW3 will have is probably 12 hour SP instead of 6. The MP will be the same as MW2. All i’m noticing is how similar MW3 is starting to be to BF3. Lets see. Location NY, Paris, etc., Destruction, vehicles, bigger maps. Is MW3 that desperate and can’t think of anything else by themselves? I would also like to mention that because of its sales, that doesn’t mean the game is better. Off course MW3 will have great sales but if anything, this is the end for COD.

its getting kinda annoyed when people compare these to games. cod should be compared to counter-strike over battlefield. cod has never had mplayer vehicles(ones that you can actually drive(and with a buddy)). its engine is actually a modified Quake 3 engine which is now over 10 years old. counter-strike engine(source) is actually newer. both have small maps and breakable glass(woohoo). where battlefield(minus bad company series) has always been about a rock, paper, scissors with vehicles of all types in huge multiplayer maps. even know that dice has gone downhill with the mod tools and dedicated servers. i would take a battlefield game over any call of duty game. cod got me for 2 games. and I for one wont make that mistake again. atleast you could open and close doors in counterstrike. and where is cod black ops mod tools? i bought that game believing the devs, when they said it was going to be released. atleast dice just told us the truth “it isnt gonna happen” more money to be made without them.

i really think that you shouldn’t think that COD is copying BF in vehicles and destruction and all that. whatever. just think of it as an upgrade to the game. i mean what else would you put in a military game? vehicles are a perfect idea and they aren’t so much copying but have similar ideas and they are great ideas. i really don’t think there is anything more that you would ask for in a military game so if COD dosn’t add vehicles that’s just another mw2… I REALLY HOPE the freakin graphics are better. if that means the release date has to be pushed back 3 times until next year june, then sooo be it! unless the world is really ending then id cry…. cause i don’t get to play a brilliant game such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

There has been a few COD games that had drivable vehicles with a buddy.

MW3 will not have vehicles or destruction. Common sense. Why?

    1. COD has balancing issues WITHOUT vehicles. Adding them will only complicate things. Infinity Ward and friends need to focus on refining what they have, rather than overhauling the system and starting from scratch. Adding drivable vehicles will kill the COD formula, which has not failed them yet (although it is very stale now). And destruction would make spawn trapping insanely easy with killstreaks and tiny maps. Its hard hiding from a chopper gunner even when you’re IN a building. Now imagine if that chopper gunner could bring that building down.

    2. If COD puts vehicles and destruction in to their game, their vehicles and destruction will be compared to Battlefields vehicles and destruction. DICE has had tons of vehicles and large maps since 2002. And destruction since 2008. There is no way Infinity Ward & Friends will be able to pull together decent destruction and balanced vehicles in 2 years that will compete with Battlefield. At this point, its best for COD to emphasize their strong points, and show what makes cod better than battlefield, not venture in to DICE territory to get slaughtered.

    3. Infinity Ward & Friends have already come out and said that there is no new engine for MW3. Do you honestly think a 6 year old engine can handle vehicles and destruction?

    4. They would lose fanbase. Lets be realistic, the people who are playing cod do NOT want drastic changes. The majority are fine with minor updates each year, new killstreaks, new weapons, new storyline, etc. Vehicles and destruction would upset a lot of cod players who suddenly have to change their strategies. This is where IW&F has a problem. People are calling for innovation, but at the same time, people are calling for things to stay the same.

Activision is stuck in a tough position, and call me crazy, but it may look like their only way out is starting a new franchise aimed directly at competing with battlefield, and at the same time keeping call of duty so that they do not have to part with their massive fanbase.

Either way, BF will be better than COD

Really?…. BF vs COD, Ford vs Chevy, iOS vs Android, Mac vs. PC, Xbox vs. PS3 etc. Fanboyism at its best. Both games are great, get the one what you think is the best and dont bash the other one just cuz you dont like it. Some people would tell you that “Brothers in Arms” is better or that the only FPS worth playing is Halo lol. You guys should learn to respect their choices and if you think you can make a better game get a lot of green make it and shut me up!!!
